Hey guys,

I just checked out Intertops and they've got Legally Blonde 2 and Sinbad up.

I think Legally Blonde is going to SUCK. Big time! T3 is going to steal its action. I'm taken low numbers on that one. Sinbad should score big, kids need a new cartoon to see... finding Nemo is going on 6 weeks.

I guess I'm a sucker for punishment. I took the 20 -30 bracket.

I took Sinbad over 23 million... it's got Brad Pitt, Michelle F, and Kathern Zeta Jones. This movie is going to be huge. Kids are pumped and they want a new flick to see. Plus a lot of adults are going to see it. Sinbad @ Intertops for 23 million or more is a winner!!!

there's a lot of negative buzz surrounding Sinabd on the internet, I don't know how that's going to translate to the children audience.

Good luck.

Guys, keep in mind that neither Legally Blonde, nor Sinbad, is anywhere to be found on the Yahoo buzz charts. In addition, LB is currently in fourth place on the Moviefone most requested list behind T3, 28 days later, and CA2, in that order. Not a good sign for either of these movies. If any movies are likely to bomb big this weekend, it's going to be one of these two.

yeah, you're probably right, but it just wouldn't feel right if I didn't get a little

this weekend. Even though Charlie's Angels broke the mold last weekend, almost all sequels to successful films will outdo the origional by a bit, so you gotta like the 20-30, I guess... Maybe Reece's popularity has diminished, as indicated by those charts, though... But Sweet Home Alabama was a huge hit.

You could tell Charlie's Angels wasn't performing very well from last week's theater reports, but I didn't want to jinx anyone on the over, just doin' you all a favor! Check the thread, the

Theater reports don't mean much, agreed, but, the buzz index DOES mean something, because it indicates what the general public is searching for.

Gil, you know that you sound like a freakin tout sometimes? Are you sure youaren't Kevin Duffy or someone like that?

Not seeing Sinbad or Legally Blonde 2 on the Buzz! Charts means nothing -- the majority of the internet searchers are males -- thus you'll see T3, Matrix, Hulk, Fast and the Furious, etc... top that list... Rarely any movie directed at girls or kids (other than Finding Nemo which was a totally different ballgame).

Not sure which way this one will go, but I think basing people won't go see it off of the buzz rating isn't smart... I think the Buzz indicator is best used for big summer movies and if the buzz is *low*...

Oh, it isn't smart? Oh, ok, thanks for setting us straight. The Buzz index IS an indicator. It is not THE indicator, but, it is a tool, whether or not you wish to accept this.

woah, I didn't even realize that all these movies are opening tomorrow. I have to start doing better research. Olympic has 5 day over/unders up now. I might make a small play on the under 50 for T3 at WSEX, though. And as for the buzz index, if you look at their weekly report they somehow track the percentage of male/female searches and hey claim that Finding Nemo's searches were primarily made by females, how they can tell what sex you are when you make a search on Yahoo is a mystery to me....

By the way, CA2 was a chick flick, and, coincidentally or not, it was NOT doing well on the Buzz chart, and we all know that it was a relative bomb in its opening weekend. Not saying that the chart is the be all end all, but, it is a VERY good indicator of what people are interested in seeing, and/or are anticipating.

jcambert:

Your CA-2 example proves nothing. I said:

"I think the Buzz indicator is best used for big summer movies and if the buzz is *low*..."

Meaning you basically proved my point with the example -- CA-2 was a big summer movie, the buzz was low, it didn't do well.

And jcambert, chill out and quit thinking that everyone that disagrees with you is attacking you... You've got some to add to this group, but really no more insight than anyone else here, and when you get really defensive you just look stupid (ala Fast and the Furious 2).
